Fitbod has been around since 2017 and has built a genuinely loyal user base. If you want a no-nonsense gym logging app that suggests your next workout based on muscle fatigue, it does that well.
But "worth it" depends on what you're looking for.
Where Fitbod is strong
- Muscle fatigue tracking is genuinely useful — it knows you hit chest yesterday and won't pile on more chest today
- Exercise library is comprehensive
- The UI is clean and fast
- Good Apple Watch integration
Where Fitbod falls short
Fitbod doesn't really *coach* you. It suggests exercises. That's different from a system that understands your goals, adjusts when you miss sessions, talks to you during your workout, or ties your nutrition into your training.
It also doesn't adapt to your life. If you skip a week, Fitbod just... waits. There's no behavioral adjustment, no check-in, no plan recalibration.
What TRLActive does differently
TRLActive uses Saddie — an AI coaching system — to build and continuously update your plan. Not just your next workout, but your trajectory: where you're going, how fast, and what's getting in the way.
It includes voice coaching, nutrition planning, and real-time session adaptation — things Fitbod doesn't offer.
The verdict
If you just want smart exercise suggestions at the gym: Fitbod is solid and worth the $13/month.
If you want something that actually coaches you through your fitness journey: TRLActive is built for that.
